This semester’s edition of Microeconomics of Competitiveness (MOC) offered students the special treat of three guest instructors. Former RUB MOC instructors Dr Christian Hundt and Dr Julian Kahl led the discussion of the Estonia and Finland/Nokia cases, while Prof Edgar Aragón took charge of the European integration and competitiveness case yesterday. A Mexican based in Brussels, Edgar Aragón is a visiting professor for public finance at the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy at the University of Erfurt. When leading the extensive yet lively 2.5-hour case discussion, he not only shared his vast experience as an MOC affiliate faculty member, but also some first-hand experience from his work with and for the European Commission. Microeconomics of Competitiveness (MOC) Affiliate Network at Harvard Business School. Five years later, Prof Matthias Kiese offers the MOC course developed by leading management professor Michael E. Porter for the seventh time this semester. While the seventh MOC class at RUB are working on their group projects, preparations for the eighth class in the Winter Term of 2018/2019 are already under way. Once again, the course will be offered on a weekly basis every Monday afternoon from 14-17 hours – Monday is MOC day! Until 30 September, 2018, Master-level and PhD students from all programmes across the University Alliance Ruhr (UAR) are invited to register with matthias.kiese@rub.de. Places will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis.
