In the winter of 2025/26, the Equal Opportunity Officer, Prof. Dr. Ines Mulder, and the Diversity Officer, Prof. Dr. Valentin Klaus, with the support of their teams, launched a survey among faculty members to determine how the faculty could promote equal opportunity and diversity. Both staff and students of the Faculty of Geography and Geosciences were invited to comment on pressing issues and offer concrete suggestions. A total of 49 staff members and 47 students participated.

The survey results have now been presented and discussed. To this end, representatives from both institutes, along with student representatives, met to discuss the most pressing issues: equality, balancing studies and work, balancing job and family life, costs of field trips, neurodiversity, etc.

It was encouraging to see that the vast majority of people at the faculty feel that their needs are “fully” or “largely” met with regard to equality and diversity at teh faculty. The results of the discussion rounds will now be further analyzed by the Equality and Diversity teams so that concrete proposals for improvement and further activities can be presented shortly. If you have any questions or would like to schedule a consultation, please contact the respective representatives, who will be happy to answer your inquiries.
