Jonas Kittner has published a new study together with colleagues in the Quarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society. The study investigates the nocturnal advection of urban heat, i.e., the transport of air heated within the city into the surrounding areas, and uses a newly developed approach in which data from thousands of crowd weather stations are utilized.
As of October 1, Christopher Kyba has taken up a new post as Heisenberg Professor for Nighttime Lights Remote Sensing. The working group will advance European capabilities in this expanding subfield of remote sensing through both research and teaching activities.
